A Global Metal Mining BULLISHares ETF Proposal
-
Font Size:
The above table (click on image for full-screen view) represents the 40 active component stocks from my Global Metal Mining BULLISHares Index of 96 companies. The index is comprised of companies which derive the majority of their revenues from the exploration, mining, extraction, processing, and sale of all types of precious metals, minerals, and industrial metals -- excluding all activities related to uranium, diamonds, coal, powdered metals, metal recycling, and finished steel product manufacturing.
All companies in this index must have a market cap greater than $1 billion US Dollars to qualify, and the 40 active components are rebalanced on a semi-active basis each quarter through a ratings formula which factors in each company's trailing 12-month stock price performance, the percentage of total market caps represented by each company, and the percentage of total trailing 12-month net income represented by each company.
Please note the index was last updated on 5/21/08, and its results compare favorably to existing benchmark exchange-traded funds [ETFs] such as State Street SPDR Metals & Mining (XME), Market Vectors Gold Miners (GDX), streetTRACKS Gold (GLD), and iShares Silver (SLV). A Global Metal Mining BULLISHares ETF would provide investors with a diversified, all-world investment option for exposure to industrial and precious metals without the need for any picks, shovels, or dynamite!
